POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES

Prevention Services

Our Prevention Services include programming focused on keeping the youth out of the juvenile justice system and assisting youth in maintaining strong family, community, and school relationships.

Positive Alternatives, Inc. offers a variety of seminars and support groups throughout the year (such as Sandcastles and Strengthening Families), which focus on youth and family issues in an attempt to educate individuals and strengthen families as a whole.  Another more individualized program offered is Parenting Wisely.

Parenting Wisely

A self-administered, computer-based program that teaches parents and their 9-18 year old children important skills for recognizing risk factors for substance use/abuse.  The program uses a risk-focused approach to reduce family conflict and child behavior problems, including bullying, stealing, vandalism, defiance of authority, and poor hygiene.  The highly interactive and non-judgemental CD-ROM format accelerates learning and  gives parents tools and skills to use immediately.

 Other Services

Prevention services also include Restorative Justice, School Mentoring, Teen Court, and TeenCare

Prevention Services of Positive Alternatives, Inc. is proud to be associated with the Dunn County Partnership for Youth, The Pierce County Partnership for Youth, Safe & Stable Families Coalition of Barron County, United Way St. Croix Valley, and United Way Rice Lake.  Please click on the logos at the bottom of the page for more information on any of these organizations.
