Positive Alternatives-Wood County Group Home is currently hiring part-time Resident Counselors to work with the youth population living in the Group Foster Home.
The Resident Counselor position is considered a Direct Care Staff position. Direct Care Staff are responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment for the residents while running the daily schedule and routine in the home. Resident Counselors work both one-on-one with the youth in the home as well as run various group recreational activities. In addition, Resident Counselors have the opportunity to organize and facilitate psycho-educational and evidence-based groups for the residents including, but not limited to: Independent Living Skills, Social Skills, AODA, Positive Relationships, Corrective Thinking, and Social Issues.
The ideal candidate should be energetic and assertive; able to work as a team and establish rapport with various members of the resident’s treatment team. Wage: During the training period pay is $12/hr and after $14/hr with the possibility of regular increases. Positions will require evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts. Hours may vary from 10-29 hrs/week.
Qualifications required: The candidate will have experience working with youth or relevant education, knowledge of adolescent development, reliable transportation, be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
