The Resident Counselor position is considered a Direct Care Staff position. Direct Care Staff are responsible for maintaining a therapeutic environment for the residents while running the daily schedule and routine in the home. Resident Counselors work both one-on-one with the youth in the home as well as run various group recreational activities. In addition, Resident Counselors have the opportunity to organize and facilitate psychoeducational groups for the residents including but not limited to: Independent Living Skills, Social Skills, AODA, Positive Relationships, Corrective Thinking, and Social Issues.
The ideal candidate should be energetic and assertive; able to work as a team and establish rapport with youth, parents, and professionals. Wage: $14/hour with the possibility of regular increases. There will be an initial training period that will start at $12/hour. Positions will require evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight shifts.
Qualifications required: The ideal candidate will have experience working with youth or relevant education, knowledge of adolescent development, reliable transportation, be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
