Brenna Heuer

Program Director

Brenna began her journey at Positive Alternatives in 2015 as a resident counselor. Over the course of her career, she taken on roles like Case Manager and Group Home Manager before accepting her most current position as a Program Director.

Brenna holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration in adolescent at-risk youth. She’s also trained in Compassion Resilience and actively facilitates this training for all staff members in order to reduce the likelihood of burnout. In 2021, she received recognition from the National Guard as a Patriotic Employer for her contributions to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America's National Guard and Reserve Force.

The way Positive Alternatives utilizes a trauma informed approach in all areas of the services and care it provides for youth is what Brenna says makes the organization so special to her. She notes that PA is always adapting to the needs of the population it services and places a strong importance on implementing ways to help the youth served feel as “normal” as possible.

When away from PA, Brenna enjoys fishing in both the winter and summer, playing the piano, and singing. Anything weather related spikes her interest and she says if she could choose another career path, it would be a “storm chaser.”
