Jon Tomski

Board Member

Jon has represented Marathon County on the Board of Directors since 2019. He holds a B.S. in History, B.S. in Broadfield Social Studies, M.A. in Educational Leadership, and is currently working on obtaining his Ed.D. Education.

Jon taught social studies for 7 years at Merrill High School in Merrill, WI. In 2018, he accepted a position as an Associate Principal at Wausau West High School in Wausau, WI, where he is currently employed.

He works regularly with Positive Alternatives in his capacity as an Associate Principal and many of the residents at the Marathon County group home attend Wausau West High School. It was his interactions with those students and the program that prompted him to accept a position on the board.

Seeing residents grow and accomplish great things in the face of significant adversity is incredibly rewarding and joyful to Jon. He says Positive Alternatives excels in this capacity through their philosophy and children-centered approach. Having a part in this as a board member is truly special to him.

Throughout his position as Associate Principal, he has had experiences and also led groups on topics ranging from student mental health to truancy court/social service referrals. His experiences and achievements as an Associate Principal relate closely to the operations, vision, and mission of Positive Alternatives.

Jon has a wife, stepdaughter, a dog named Coconut, and a cat named Guff. They love traveling, trying new restaurants, and playing with their pets. Personally, he enjoys fishing, cooking, golf, Green Bay Packers football, and walking Coconut.

Positive Alternatives is a fantastic organization with a very important purpose. I am very happy and proud to serve as a board member!
