Mary Jo Hurtgen

Office Manager

Mary Jo has been apart of the Positive Alternatives family and serving as the organization’s office manager since November 4th, 1998!

During her high school years, Mary Jo excelled in office and bookkeeping classes. Over time, she continued to enhance her interpersonal skills, taking numerous courses to improve her etiquette when speaking with others both over the phone and in person. Additionally, she pursued computer classes to further strengthen these essential skills.

Mary Jo gravitated towards the position due to the organization’s nonprofit status and her desire for a management role within an office setting. In addition to her consistent work in offices and financial institutions throughout her career, she also has experience working for another nonprofit. Mary Jo says she truly believe in what they can accomplish.

Mary Jo loves the work that she does and the staff she gets to work with really complete it for her. Even though she doesn’t work directly with clients, she truly enjoys getting to know most of them.

Outside of Positive Alternatives, Mary Jo is a grandmother to eight beautiful grandkids who keep her busy, but she’s loving every minute with them!

Positive Alternatives is a great nonprofit agency and I have seen awesome accomplishments.
